SFCHC is pleased to welcome Ismael Aguila back to its Board of Directors. First appointed in 2014, he took a brief hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic before rejoining the Board in 2024. With a dynamic career spanning community health, public recreation services and sustainable landscape development, Ismael brings a unique blend of expertise that strengthens SFCHC’s mission to provide accessible healthcare for all.

Ismael has deep roots in both the City of San Fernando and SFCHC, and takes great pride in being born at the clinic when it was San Fernando Community Hospital. He is passionate about expanding access to care in the northeast San Fernando Valley and brings over 25 years of community health experience working with low-income populations.

Ismael is committed to contributing his expertise, resources, partnerships and strong local connections to SFCHC. “I’m extremely happy to know the clinic, which was originally founded as the San Fernando Valley’s first hospital, is still here to meet the needs of the most vulnerable and underserved members of our community,” he said. “My immediate goals are to spend time with employees, learn as much as I can about current operations and services, and find ways for the clinic to work more closely with the City of San Fernando.”

Ismael is currently a Construction Project and Nursery Manager at The Green Scene, where he oversees multimillion-dollar pool and landscape construction projects. Extending beyond construction, he actively partners with the Los Angeles Unified School District and the non-profit Los Angeles Cactus and Succulent Society to donate plants and provide succulent workshops for youth and seniors across the San Fernando Valley.

Before this, he founded Aguila Consulting, a firm specializing in landscape design and community health initiatives for low-income communities. His consulting work emphasized cost-effective landscape architecture solutions and fostering community health partnerships.

Previously, Ismael served as Director of Community Health Services and Partnerships for Providence Health & Services, where he played a pivotal role in expanding healthcare access. His leadership led to the creation of three community wellness centers, serving thousands of residents and addressing critical health disparities. He also directed strategic planning, real estate development and major health initiatives benefiting vulnerable populations.

He also previously served as Director of Recreation and Community Services for the City of San Fernando, where he managed parks, community programs and special events, securing over $2 million in recreational facility improvements. His expertise in public health programming stems from his tenure with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, where he launched the county’s first physical activity initiative targeting low-income communities.

Ismael is eager to work in close partnership with other Board members, whom he admires for their contributions. “It is beautiful to see a group of people who are so committed and passionate about helping those in need,” he said. “They have busy professional and personal lives, yet generously volunteer their time and talents to help strengthen SFCHC and serve others."

Ismael loves spending time with his wife, son and daughter. He stays active through golfing, gardening and volunteering as a coach and manager for his children's sports teams.
