SFCHC  is proud to support Prop 35, a measure on the November 2024 ballot that will address California's most urgent healthcare priorities by securing dedicated, ongoing funding  for a broad range of services – without raising taxes on individuals.

These critically needed funds will protect and expand access to care from primary care and specialty care physicians, hospitals, emergency rooms, family planning and mental health providers, and community health clinics such as SFCHC. Prop 35 helps deliver California’s promise of quality, timely and affordable healthcare for everyone, especially those who rely on Medi-Cal for preventative and specialist care.

Prop 35 will secure ongoing revenue by extending an existing levy on health insurance companies set to expire next year, without imposing a new tax at any level. It will dedicate these funds to ensure all Californians have equitable access to healthcare and will prevent the state from redirecting these revenues for non-healthcare purposes.

As a federally qualified health center and the medical home to over 6,000 patients annually, SFCHC works to deliver quality, compassionate and culturally appropriate care to all. We offer comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health and education services, with an emphasis on serving the most vulnerable.

SFCHC’s 2023 Community Health Needs Assessment shows our service area has a higher rate of poverty than Los Angeles County overall. Many of the individuals and families who walk through our doors struggle with unemployment, food insecurity, housing instability and serious medical and behavioral health needs.

Prop 35 is supported by a large, bipartisan coalition that includes nurses, healthcare workers, first responders, physicians, dentists, hospitals, Planned Parenthood, community health centers, social justice organizations and both the California Democratic and Republican Parties.

Please, join the growing coalition to build a healthier California and vote “yes” on Proposition 35. For more information, click here
