Gabriela Davila’s career journey began when she immigrated to the United States from Mexico 27 years ago. Overcoming many challenges along the way, she has raised three beautiful daughters as a single mother and excelled in her professional life. Gabriela is not only an inspiration to others, but a treasured member of the SFCHC team.

Gabriela joined SFCHC nearly three years ago as a community enrollment specialist, where she assists patients with accessing and managing their health insurance benefits. Her responsibilities include providing enrollment assistance to those who are eligible for no- or low-cost health coverage through My Health LA, Covered California, Medi-Cal and Medi-Care.

Gabriela believes SFCHC is special because it cares about providing quality medical services to our community and has a staff that cares about patients. “I feel like SFCHC is part of my family,” she said.

On a daily basis, Gabriela helps individuals complete required forms to join or change health plans, as well as to change their primary physicians and medical groups. Since the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency, she has taken a leadership role helping families who are at risk of losing their Medi-Cal health coverage navigate through the redetermination process.

“I think my work is important because health is very important for every human being,” said Gabriela. Our commitment to the community is to ensure they have medical insurance. I speak in plural because the Outreach Department is made up of three more people - Cynthia Benitez, Silvia Morales and Michelle Trigueros – and, we work together to achieve our goal that our patients maintain their medical coverage.”

Gabriela is very proud of the success her daughters have achieved. Her youngest daughter is in her first year of high school and, next year, her oldest daughter will earn her credentials in kinesiology with an emphasis in physical education and her middle daughter will graduate high school.

Gabriela’s hobbies include watching the sunrise every morning, cooking, spending quality time with her family and playing with her dog Boris. She also enjoys watching Korean dramas on Netflix.
