On April 1, Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) joined local elected officials, community leaders and industry partners to celebrate the grand opening of SFCHC’s new satellite clinic within the Corazón del Valle affordable housing development in Panorama City. The festivities included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, facility tours and refreshments to mark this important milestone in expanding access to care for both residents and neighbors.

Congresswoman Rivas secured $2 million in state budget funding for the clinic in 2022 while representing California’s 43rd Assembly District. The new site is located within a 180-unit affordable housing complex developed by Holos Communities, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating safe and sustainable living spaces. The development also includes solar panels, recycled water for landscaping and convenient access to parks, businesses and public transportation.

"I’m excited to be welcoming the San Fernando Community Health Center to Panorama City where it will help play a key role in providing quality medical and dental care to those facing housing and economic instability in our community,” said Congresswoman Rivas. “I secured $2 million in state funding to help make this health clinic possible when I was in the California Assembly. Now that I’m in Congress, I am continuing my fight to bring federal dollars back into our communities that will help working families access affordable, reliable healthcare and housing services.”

The project brought together nonprofit, community and industry partners around a shared commitment to integrating essential health services within supportive, sustainable housing. Perkins & Will provided pro bono architectural and design services, while Thornton Tomasetti and tk1sc contributed pro bono engineering expertise in collaboration with the general contractor PAG Construction. Together, these partners helped shape a development that reflects the connection between stable housing, accessible services and community well-being.

“Our entire team is deeply grateful to Congresswoman Rivas, whose advocacy and leadership have been instrumental in making our new satellite clinic at Corazón del Valle a reality,” said SFCHC CEO Audrey Simons. “We would also like to recognize Holos Communities and our amazing project partners for their collaboration and steadfast support. San Fernando Community Health Center has served as a trusted healthcare home in the San Fernando Valley for a century, and this new clinic extends our mission by bringing services to people who might otherwise face barriers to care. When our patients are empowered to take charge of their own health, it strengthens the well-being of the entire community.”

SFCHC’s new clinic features two dental and two medical exam rooms to accommodate a wide range of patient-focused services, including dental exams, primary and pediatric care, and treatment for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

“It starts with health,” said Holos Communities Executive Director Cristian Ahumada. “This project reflects the importance of creating a place where basic needs are met first, and where residents can also find the services and support that create opportunities for a fuller life. We are honored to welcome San Fernando Community Health Center as a trusted partner in caring for residents of Corazón del Valle and the surrounding neighborhood.”

Open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the clinic is located at 14533 Lanark St., Suite 120, in Panorama City. Patients are encouraged to make appointments, though limited walk-in visits may be available. As a federally qualified health center, SFCHC serves patients regardless of income, insurance status or ability to pay. To schedule an appointment, call 818.963.5690.
